Q&A with Laura Vandervoort

At Palmier we're always on the lookout for stylish, ambitious and fierce women so when we came across Canadian actor Laura Vandervoort we knew within minutes she was part of our tribe.  Not only has she featured in Supergirl, Smallville and Bitten - this girl has a black belt in karate, performs her own stunts, and in her free time acts as an Ambassador for World Vision Canada, a charity that supports underprivileged kids.

Where are you right now?

I am currently in Los Angeles in my home. Had some down time from work in Toronto. Having a coffee starting my day. It’s been a blessing to work in Toronto so much. My family all love there and it’s important to me to spend tome with them as much as possible. I moved to Los Angeles 7 years ago on my own. Tough place to live. It does get lonely.

Where did you last go on holiday, who was it with and why did you go?

My last large trip was to South Africa, Cape Town. However that was for work. I had a fair bit of free time. It was incredible. Hiked lions head and table mountain. Went on a safari that was life changing. It was magical. Prior to that a trip I went on with World Vision Canada to Kenya effected me deeply. My sister came with me. We went to different areas visiting families who were foster through World Vision Canada. I work as an ambassador for them but also sponsor two kids. I’ve been sponsoring kids for over 11 years now.

Where is next on your list to visit?

My next big trip is to Paris in October! I am working for two days there but extending it into a sisters trip. Both my sister Sarah and I have never been to Paris. The trip lands around her birthday so I thought what a great way to spend it! With her crazy schedule and mine we rarely get time to reconnect. I’m very much looking forward to it!

What are your key holiday essentials?

Gosh, a little of everything? Hahaha. It all really depends on the holiday I suppose. But my camera is a crucial ingredient on any holiday. I love photography.

What was the last book you read?

‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ By Taylor Jenkins Reid. Currently started ‘Grit’ By Angela Duckworth.

Tell us about your favourite restaurant?

It is always changing. Right now in Toronto I’m in love with a vegan restaurant called ‘Hello 123.’ I’ve also grown fond of the Noodle Bar at the Shangri La hotel.

In Los Angeles I’m a sucker for the home cooked meals at Hugo’s.

What's in your handbag?

On a normal day to day basis it’s not that exciting. It is generally my wallet, Charlotte tilbury lipstick (pillow talk), a large set of keys haha, Nivea hydro care lip balm, gum, doTERRA past tense essential oil blend, hand cream and sunglasses.

What is your favourite item from the Palmier collection?

I love the Lala Skirt and Tara Top. Also the Chloe Dress!

What are you working on right now?

I recently wrapped the feature film ‘Rabid.’ It is a remake of the original film by the same name from the 70’s. A David Cronenberg film. Directed by the Soska Sisters. After wrapping that I began working on a new Netflix series called ‘V Wars’ starring Ian Somerhalder and Adrian Holmes.
